On 22nd of July, Indonesia celebrate a festival of sacrifice which is widely known as Idul Adha or Qurban. The objective is to commemorate the sacrifice taken by Islamic prophet, Ibrahim, who was commanded by God to sacrifice his most beloved possession which was Ismail, his son.
Eversince that event, in symbolic fashion, Muslims all around the world celebrate the absolute devotion of Ibrahim and Ismail by sacrificing cow, camel, goat, sheep, or ram and distributing the meat to the poor people, their kins and retaining the rest of it. May the purity of Ibrahim’s and Ismail’s hearts also dwell in each and every single one of us.
